What is DFW FanForce?
DFW FanForce is a Dallas/Ft. Worth and surrounding Metroplex area, grassroots
sci-fi fan group largely based around the love of all things Star Wars. DFW
FanForce originally formed as an organized line camping out for The Phantom
Menace as part of the Countdown organization. We created and became the
‘flagship’ city for FanForce.net.
Who runs DFW FanForce?
DFW FanForce is run by a leadership council, primarily made up founding members
who have been a part of the leadership since the very beginning of its
formation, in the early part of 1999. These staff members oversee every aspect
of DFW FanForce from website design and maintenance, day-to-day operations, and
calling meetings and get togethers.
What is the Support Team?
DFW FanForce is first and foremost a community effort, and every one has the
opportunity to contribute, and no one needs to feel left out if they want to
devote time and energy to being active within the club. That being said, the
support team was formed to serve as an outlet for those individuals in DFW
FanForce who wants to contribute their help with various meetings, activities,
events, web design and support, graphics work, documentation, and FanForce city
representation. Individuals in the support team do not have any type of
authority or power within the organization, and report directly to the
Leadership Council.
What is a City Representative?
DFW FanForce currently maintains an acute relationship with the FanForce.net.
Because FanForce is so large, their rules state that all FanForce clubs have a
City Representative assigned to FanForce who basically has two job duties for
FanForce: 1. Submit local city related news to FanForce for posting on the
FanForce website and calendar. 2. Moderate the clubs city forum on the
TheForce.Net public forums. Our City Representative is a member of our
Leadership Council.
How do I join DFW FanForce?
Joining DFW FanForce is simple. On the DFW FanForce forum page, just create an
account and fill out the form. You’ll then be registered as a member. It’s
free and easy! We only ask that you be a North Texas Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex
resident. We do not have any
membership dues.
Is there any age limits on members?
DFW FanForce accepts members of any age, race, sex, creed, or level of geekiness.
A possible issue might be that some of the events, from time to time may take
place in settings for those 21 and older (i.e. bars or clubs ) because most of
our members are over 21.
Miscellaneous stuff I need to know?
If you want the latest information about the group or events, the best place to
start is the website, http://www.dfwfanforce.net where the most up to date
information is posted, and if you can't find it there, e-mail staff@dfwfanforce.net
and someone will try to help you out.
What can we discuss on the DFW FanForce Forum?
The DFW FanForce forum is a place where fans can meet online and get to know
each other. Many of the topics posted are not always related to Star Wars.
Please remember that many of our participants and viewers are under age. This
forum will be a safe place for fans to discuss getting together to form a local
fan organization, and therefore will take the necessary steps to safeguard the
safety of our underage-participants. In short, we have a no-tolerance policy of
any lewd behavior on the forum. Just common sense kind of stuff. Underage
participants are strictly discouraged from engaging in any activity with other
members outside of our Official DFW FanForce meetings approved and arranged by
the leadership council. Concerned parents are encouraged to email staff@dfwfanforce.net
directly with their questions or concerns.
How are spoilers to be handled on the forum?
If you are starting or replying to a discussion that contains spoilers, PLEASE
put Spoiler as part of your topic. If you are going to reply with a spoiler,
please move the discussion to a separate thread and label it as a Spoiler.
Please be considerate of those members who have no interest in spoilers
whatsoever.
What about All-Con and
conventions?
Because of it's size the DFW area plays host to various toy and comic book shows
throughout the year. DFW FanForce members make an effort to attend these types
of events, depending on the type and guests.
Are there any gamers or movie fanatics out there?
Yes! Because Dallas is considered a big movie city we have many members who love
attending movies. Part of this group has a huge interest in watching and
collecting DVDs. As for gamers, yes we have some members are interested in
video, CCG, and role playing games, you may find them on the forums.
